North Face has been a stable in the outdoor industry for decades. They offer high quality gear for a variety of uses. They offer great camping gear with tents. They offer great jackets, mid layers, base layers and footwear. They also offer a wider variety of backpacks than Patagonia. They have backpacks that are great for any occasion such as the casual weekend backpacking trip all the way to bigger mountaineering trips.

In conclusion both brand offer amazing gear. While they overalap in many areas such as jackets and other outdoor clothing there are a few key differences. North Face offers a larger selection of non-clothing gear for activities such as camping, climbing, and mountaineering. Whereas Patagonia’s bags are mostly focused on quality travel gear.
Ultimately the choice of which brand to go with comes down to what you are looking for and personal preference. Some specific things that we prefer in one brand or the other goes as follows. For mid layers we prefer to go with Patagonia their selection of puffy extremely insulating mid layers in unmatched in the outdoor industry. We also prefer Patagonias iconic black hole duffel for traveling for its great water resistant material and amazing durability. For North Face we prefer their backpacksing packs as well as their hiking footwear.
